Is Share Trading for Everyone?

By:Aman Srivastava

If someone asks this question, the reply would be yes but with a note of caution. Investments in global markets should be done after properly analyzing the investment horizon of the individual concerned. It must be understood that trading shares is a risky mode of investment and there are no assured returns like the kinds we see with bank deposits or bonds. However with online trading becoming so popular, there is a much greater opportunity for retail investors to join the investment bandwagon. When investing in shares it is important that a thorough research be done on the stock and the buying decision should not be influenced by any market rumours. This will help the investment to grow in the long run. There are many innovative trading models which will help you to learn the art and science that is share trading.

One such trading practice is buying virtual shares. There are many companies such as No Trading Fees which allows customers to trade virtual shares with each other and make money out of it. Customers are allowed to trade at the mid price which allows them to get a better price than what the market would offer with the spread. Apart from this there is also no need to pay the broker price or stamp duty. I think that this is an excellent way to get hands-on into the global trading scene. An investor can continue investing in this mode even after he has become an expert in the markets. This mode of trading also allows investors to build a large portfolio of stocks with a small amount of money. Retail investors can try to trade through virtual shares which do not charge any trading fees. This can be an important first step.

Retail investors should always start their investments with small amounts of money. This is an important step towards becoming a professional investor in the stock market. Large investors have a fairly sound idea of the markets for a reason; they understand the market sentiment better. They have access to high quality research because of what they are able to trade within a particular price range. They book profits at a particular price range and reap the benefits. Retail investors should also try to gauge the fundamentals of the stock and look at the technical charts before investing. Portfolio building is an art and should be done diligently through timed and patient buying and selling of shares. Investors should always trade with a "stop loss" and "limit" which will help them to minimize their losses while maximizing their gains.

Investing in the share market can reap substantial benefits if it is done by following strategies. People who have not followed proper strategies have seen much of their wealth eroded quickly. The economic and political scenario of the country will also have an effect on the share market. As a result investors need to keep a close tab on the global economic scenario. In short, the share market is a great place to invest for everyone who is aware of the strategies. Afterall Warren Buffet made his money that way.
